Dispatches from Libraryland

If there haven’t been a ton of in-depth posts here lately, and most things are short posts over the next two weeks, it’s because I’m getting ready for the annual Medical Library Association conference. There is a lot to do at work right now besides, with goals and web tools and clinical evidence summaries and abstract reviews and whatnot to take care of – and did I mention that I’ll be supervising 3 people starting soon?

Don’t feel too bad for me, though – the MLA conference is in Honolulu, and work is sending me (believe me, I wouldn’t be making it if that weren’t the case). It’s too bad it’s not going to work to bring the spouse, but I’m looking forward to seeing it – aside from being Hawaii generally, that’s where my Korean family was/is.

I’ve also been selected as one of the official bloggers for the conference, so I’ll be talking medlib stuff over here throughout the week starting next Saturday.

PS-If you are a library person and haven’t been connected in to the Library Society of the World yet, I highly recommend it. I primarily interact with the group through FriendFeed. It’s extraordinarily pleasant to be linked in to active, engaged libraryfolk from all types of locales and institutions. If anybody will be at MLA and wants to have unofficial LSW medlib sig drinks, let me know.🙂

Rachel, congratulations on being an official blogger. The combined geekiness: libraries, medical information, conferences, blogging — is awesome. And I mean that with no irony whatsoever. The only thing that could make it more cool is if you could work in some archival research. Think about it.
