Nitpicking the VA’s Approach to Decoration

October 13, 2008

I’m thinking that, in a time when women are serving in the military in increasing numbers, and efforts have been made to call attention to and remedy the disparities found between the treatment of male and female soldiers, it might not have been the best decorative scheme or timing for the local VA hospital to prominently add – in feet-high letters – the Veterans Affairs motto (emphasis added) to the front of their building:

“To care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow, and his orphan”

Ahem. /nitpick
