For My Alabama Sisters – Make Your Own Sex Toys

September 2, 2008

Apparently you can make your own silicone dildo. With supplies from the hardware store. Who knew? I’m thinking you could use this method for menstrual cups, too, but I haven’t tried it.

PS-I took a 3-day internet break over the weekend and am swamped with work this week, so posts may be light.

OMG i have a great way to make your own dildo from home supplies and make it vibrate!!

    *electric toothbrush
    *clay, playdo, moonsand, ect…
    *plastic wrap

first you take the clay or wateva you used and shape it into your own dildo! now take the electric toothbrush and take the head off of it and make sure the toothbrush still turns on. stick it into the dildo and wrap it with the plastic wrap! make sure it’s completly sealed. if anything of the clay gets in your vagina you could have serious problems.

    Hope it works!!

I have been making dildo’s from home for a while… there are lots of fun pigments you can buy and simply add them to your silicone! Luckily I am in the San Francisco bay area (i came across this blog in a google search) and i can buy lots of mold making supplies and fun silicone dies at local warehouse outlets. i recommend using FOOD grade silicone. i LOVE my vagina and NEVER let anything cut rate go near it!

AND… if you have a favorite penis you just can’t get enough of… you can use the same rubber silicone they take a mold of your teeth with (at the dentists office, the gooey stuff) and you can (safely) get a mold of that cock to keep forever!!! just make sure you get get silicone mold release spray so that your negative and your positive (both made of silicone) don’t fuse!

as far as vibrations… nothing quiet vibrates like well.. a vibrator! lol… my favorite place to buy little vibes for inside my hand crafted toys is and ethical sex positive co-op.

    Good luck ladies!!!

Here’s one that’s kind of funny:

“O.k, so you’re shopping for a vibe or a dildo and seeing “1” diamter” this, “1.5” diamter” that but its hard to tell exactly what works for you. Here is a little tip if you want to get really precise:
Buy a large cucumber, peel it, then warm it for a few seconds in the microwave. Masturbate a little to get relaxed and in the mood. Then, Try inserting your new vegetable friend with some personal lube. If it doesn’t fit comfortably, keep peeling it down till you’ve found the right size. Then cut it in half and measure the diameter across your vegetable cock. Voila! It’s not as easy as figuring out your shoe size, but it works.”

To Ru: i have been trying to use silicone, but I see to be unable to dry it when it is thicker than half an inch (1cm)… how do you dry a whole dildo!

RE: >how do you dry a whole dildo

You are right, it’s not going to work as presented. It can take a week or longer for the “Hardware Store Silicone” to dry within an Latex Mold… so wait, it still works eventually

I have had an experimental jar of hardware silicone drying for over 2 weeks and only the first third of an inch dried, the rest never did…

    anyone got tips?

  9. February 25, 2009 9:34 pm

Hmmm. I clearly need to do some experiments and report back to the group. ๐Ÿ˜‰

there’s probably some sort of hardener you need to use.

no its cocking gun silicone as suggested on this site. its bs, as there is no hardener for this (and if there were you could not mix it in properly, silicone with hardener is much more liquid.

Every time someone comments on this thread I’m reminded that I need to get some materials, do some experiments, and report back. Aack! Must do this soon!

If you can mold a penis… can you mold a vagina that can be used for pleasure comfortably?

oh! I forgot to say, if you make custom dildos (custom shapes and all), regular plasticine (the stuff that never dries at like 3-4$ per pound) works great to make a mold from! I use it all the time, it never sticks to the silicone, polyurethane or latex!

OK here you go girls. I got it figured out. YES it’s true that the damn center never dries (because no air gets to it). So this is what I did:
I squeezed out the inside stuff as much as I could leaving only a “wall” of silicone in the rubber mold. Then I just monitored it and applied more slicone as it dried until I filled it. Kind of like doing the mold, use layers.
After my first dildo, though I found that it was too “bendy” and hard to keep “hard” so on my second one I followed the steps (layers) and on the last application, instead of silicone I inserted a metal spring (kind of like those used as door stops). This works great because not only is it soft on the outside, but it stays up as long as needed. Great for “squatting”. Have fun and let me know if you have any difficulties.

Knowing a little bit about different silicons and plastics that vibrators and dildos are made out of I would be very careful when making your own. Most plastics you find in a hardware store have heavy duty chemicals in them. They are not meant for sticking inside your body. In fact there are many products that can find in the actual sex shops that also contain chemicals that are not body safe. Make sure you know there is no phthalates in these plastics and silicons that you are purchasing from the hardware store. If you would like more information on phthalates and your body please feel free to visit my blog at http://www.sexualdelights.c/new
I have a post on my blog that explains what to look for when buying sex toys. Take care everyone!

there are a few types of silicon and as already stated you need to make sure they are safe and don’t contain nasty chemicals. When silicon cures, the term I think is vulcanising (spelling might be wrong), anyway you can get silicons that vulcanise with contact to air or require a vulcanising chemical, I guess this is what you need when making a dildo. the silicon from a hardware store uses air so you could be waiting for a year for it to set completely!! I managed to get some that u mix a chemical with from ebay but this stuff was pretty expensive.

To make a mold from the real thing you will need a substance called alginate, this is used by dentist to take an impression when creating dentures, crowns etc. so its very safe, it’s commonly available too. This is tricky bit now, but if you get a container roughly the size of the subject you can fill it with the mixture and then plunge the subjects penis into the container. best time to do this is 1st thing in the morning when (like myself) he is really hard. Get all the stuff ready the night before and then maybe put a ring around the base of his penis to keep maintain the erection. This will also pump up the veins so could add something to the end result. you will have to handle the mixing as ant distraction for a guy will result in a loss of erection regardless of cock ring etc. We cant multi task lol

I made a plaster cast for a girlfriend a while ago using this molding method and painted the cast with water colors. It was so realistic that I pretended to stand there with my cock sticking out my pants, she got turned on but her face dropped when I just ripped it off lol. Anyway hope this helps and if u need any more help let me know

Hello. ๐Ÿ™‚ well I sucseeded on making my very own strap-on dildo it was verry easy all you need is a condom a tall glass water and a glue gun! All you do is fill the glass with water roll the condom down a bit hold it over bthe water. And then squirt the glue in the condom ๐Ÿ™‚ slowly ass it fills roll it down to the size you want ๐Ÿ™‚ the only downside is that it gets hard but it feels great and all you do to save your skin from the glue is put over a new condom ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi -I`d like to clear a few things up here – there are indeed different silicones -what we are talking about is food grade silicone. GE in the caulk tube from home depot is food grade!
it`s safe -tantus has built a business on this.
to solve these hardness issues, you need to mix some glycerine and acrylic paint in to cure it all the way through.
    here is some serious information
I`m no expert at the molding though.

What kind of problems? Can happen if you get non- toxic clay in your vigina? Can you die??

    • May 16, 2012 7:06 am

the vagina is mostly a self-cleaning system, so I doubt a trace amount of clay is going to do much of anything. Also, one of the advantages of using silicone is that it is non-porous and things don’t stick to it, so the chances of the clay sticking to the dildo after you’ve washed it (and you wash all your toys before and after each use, right?) are pretty remote. The bigger concern is what sort of chemicals might be in the material of the dildo itself, since those hang around and could potentially be absorbed over time. That’s why it’s very important to use 100% silicone, which is safe. Even hospitals use it.

If you are shopping for commercial sex toys, it’s again very important to pay close attention to the materials used – 100% silicone and non-porous materials like glass and steel are the safest choice. The sex toy industry is not regulated like children’s toys are, so it’s hard to guarantee that cheaper toys don’t have nasty things in them. In addition to phthalates, a 1995 Dutch study sampled a dozen randomly-bought toys and found lead, arsenic, antimony, and (in one case) enough cadmium to make it mildly radioactive. As a result, some toy makers (like Tantus) are working on establishing a way for the sex toy industry to regulate itself, but they haven’t gotten that far yet.

To be clear: NONE of these things are likely to be lethal. Even the slightly radioactive one is unlikely to do damage unless left in for hours on end every day. But it’s like food – just because the additives in processed foods won’t actually kill you, doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to put them in your body.

if you are in doubt about any of your toys, put a condom over them before use to protect yourself.

THIS WORKS. Use a condom and slowly fill it with pure silicone. take your time to keep air bubbles out and fill completly…tie the end in a knot. place in a cantainer of water so the silicone stays round with no pressure on any sides. will dry in about 2 days and the condom just peels off making an extremely smooth dildo. works GREAT……

Let me add more details in here for those who seriously want to get into making silicone pleasure toys…

I have been researching this for a few weeks already, and found a few methods, also struggling to find answers to a few important questions…

    – 100% silicone caulk is considered to be completely body-safe
    – you can use soft clay to make your mold, meaning that you shape the clay, and I guess hard clay can work just as fine (remember to use compatible clay, which must be sulfur free, there are sulfur free, water based sorts of clay out there!)
    – you can cover this with a layer of silicone, either brushable, or use another sort, I guess the same caulk will do just as fine
    – of course silicone needs time to cure, and when it’s done you can get the clay out of the silicone mold, like by squeezing the soft clay out of it, or trying to pull the hard clay out
    – important note: always use a release agent, and it is important that it is always compatible with: your basic mold you shaped; the silicone you cover it with; and the silicone you pour into it! (there are release agents out there that work, I do hope that vaseline will do just fine)
    – silicone doesn’t stick to anything, expect to silicone, that’s why you can make molds so easily with it, also why you can make layers to stick into a complete shape, and why you HAVE TO use some kind of a release agent (like vaseline) so the cover mold won’t stick to your final dildo
    – pigments: you also have to use body-safe pigments, and with enough research you can find suppliers you can contact, I have successfully found probably a couple of places where they sell such pigments (still no idea though if I could make a “smokey effect” with them but oh well, I guess with clear caulk and not full stirring it may work…)

There is another method, which I am still researching – the results seem to be encouraging so far, but I am still not entirely sure as there isn’t much info on such things online… (Have just written to a caulk supplier to ask about it…)

    This method is:

    – you mix caulk with cornstarch, 1:1 ratio, but I did read that different ratios have also worked for others when making their own molds for toys for kids and stuff
    – after some mixing and kneeding like play doh, the thoroughly mixed material will start to harden, and you have 5-15 minutes to make any shapes, until it gets fully hardened finally
    – it is supposed to be body-safe, but like I said, official supplier info is still on its way
    – not sure if the so far ok sounding pigments would work fine with this method, but I am supposed to find that out after receiving the answer too

Note on the pigments: you read everywhere how people use different colorants in silicone molds for non-pleasure toys, but like I said, one has to be sure that the pigment you want to use is safe for internal pleasures!

I would gladly share all the info I have on what exact brands I have found so far, and I would also be more than happy if any of you could share info on successful results with the whole process related to what I have listed here, and of course on the question what exact brands we could use for pigments for example, or at least what the components should be!

I hope btw that this thread turns out finally to be a helpful place where people could get real answers on the details of how to make your own silicone pleasure toys… Myself am not going ahead to make my first toy until I have found out exactly what materials, brands and methods could work successfully in this kind of a project…

Hope to hear usable responses, and keep the thread going of course!!! Thank you for opening it and actively discussing the topic btw!!! :):):):):):)

Kind regards to all of you,
