Target Women: Birth Control is finally on YouTube, allowing me to embed it in a post.

Also, Rachel Maddow would like you to know that librarians are “trained democracy superheroes.”

I love Sarah Haskins. She’s amazing.
Also, I feel like there is a bigger analytical project lurking behind this suspicious omission of birth in oral contraceptive commercials. I mean, in some ways it makes sense… oral contraceptives can be useful for a lot of things other than contraception, so that’s useful to know. (Wish someone would tell that to the conscience clause backers.) I also get that all oral contraceptives prevent pregnancy do some degree, so the main marketable difference between brands is their particular combination of hormones and the effect that has on *some percentage of women.*
But why is it that condom ads talk about sex, and pill ads talk about periods, and no one really talks about family planning?

Is there more like this you can link for us? I see a huge surge of use of YouTube, Podcasts and Blogs in other educational fields. It would be great to have a round-up of women’s issue topics in those, as you’ve done for news, blogs, other media. I have downloaded podcasts on certain issues I need for work, and think it’s a more time-conscious way to be informed and learn than reading blogs. WHICH CAN BE FUN. But yikes. With podcasts I can listen while practising life.

Deline, that’s a good idea. I’ll look around.
