Prevention vs. Treatment

August 6, 2008

I’m thinking that if you’re a healthcare provider (say, one in a maroon Touareg), you might decide to drive in a way, even at your healthcare-providing workplace, that doesn’t put pedestrians at serious risk of injury. So when you pull out of the parking garage that clearly exits over a sidewalk, and has huge STOP lettering prior to that sidewalk, you might actually slow down (or even stop) rather than gunning it without bothering to look for people, you know, walking. I mean, we have an excellent trauma center here, but I’d rather not wind up in it because you couldn’t be bothered to pay attention while violating several traffic rules flooring it driving. First do no harm, indeed.
