2009 Tennessee Women’s Health Report Card Now Available
The 2009 Tennessee Women’s Health Report Card [PDF] is now available for download from the website of Women’s Health Research at Vanderbilt.* It was produced as a collaboration among Women’s Health Research at Vanderbilt, the Vanderbilt Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, the Tennessee Department of Health, Meharry Medical College, and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
I haven’t read it yet, but it seems to grade the health status of the 3.1 million women in the state according to Healthy People 2010 goals on topics such as prenatal care, sexually transmitted diseases, cause of death, modifiable risk behaviors (such as smoking), and preventive care. And an awful lot of those grades are Cs, Ds, and Fs. More on this later.
*Disclosure: Vanderbilt is my larger place of work, and people I’ve worked with worked on this report.
