Pretty Bird Woman House Fundraising Drive a Success!

Recently, I and a bunch of other bloggers encouraged you to check out and consider donating to Pretty Bird Woman House, a shelter for abused women on the Standing Rock Reservation that has met with some hard times. As of December 28th, the shelter reached their goal of $70,000 raised to procure a new home for the shelter with proper security. If any of you donated, thank you.
Please note, however, that while the assistance to Pretty Bird Woman House helps relieve a local symptom, the disease of sexual assault against women on reservations is still rampant. If you haven’t already, please see this Amnesty International report for background.

Woohoo! It’s awesome to see people come together for a cause like this. Now if only every local cause like this could be helped so incredibly….
Jessi, no kidding. I’ve been seriously considering featuring one group per month to encourage donations, but I wonder whether it would actually drum up any contributions.
