Toys Needed for the Holidays (Nashville, TN)
Posted by Rachel on December 2, 2007
The Maternal Infant Health Outreach Worker (MIHOW) Program is in need of new toys, especially for children from birth to 3 years old. MIHOW is a mother-to-mother program that improves family health, as MIHOW workers (local women who are trusted locally) work with mothers in need by visiting pregnant women and families with young children up to three years of age in their home to promote healthy living and self-sufficiency. In Nashville, MIHOW is based in the Woodbine Community Center.
Right now, the organization has only received two dolls, but has 40 children (boys and girls) to serve in Nashville this holiday season. Time is running out, as donations are needed by December 7th. I know solicitations for holiday charities are flying left and right, but won’t you please consider making a toy donation to the children of the women MIHOW workers support?
Contact information for MIHOW is available online if you’d like to donate. I have email addresses for multiple contacts involved in the toy drive, but didn’t want to splash them around the tubes. Email me if you would like those details.
Full disclosure: I am on the board of the Center for Health Services, which oversees the MIHOW program.
