Publix Offering Free Antibiotics

August 8, 2007

In case you missed it earlier this week, Publix super markets with pharmacies will now fill prescriptions for 7 common antibiotics free of charge. You still have to have a prescription, but can fill it for free regardless of your insurance status/provider.

The list of antibiotics is as follows:
-Amoxicillin
-Cephalexin
-Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim (SMZ-TMP)
-Ciprofloxacin (excluding ciprofloxacin XR)
-Penicillin VK
-Ampicillin
-Erythromycin (excluding Ery-Tab).

This locator tool allows you to search for the nearest Publix, and you can check a box to search only for those locations with a pharmacy. Free antibiotics with prescription is a good deal – for pete’s sake, though, use ‘em responsibly.

Divine, see if there is a Publix in your area. Other stores, like Wal-Mart, Target, Kroger, offer some drugs for $4.
